Stress management expert Catherine VanWetter intoduces her upcoming 4-week-class “Overwhelmed and Overworked: Thriving in Changing Times", starting Tuesday, January 27 (the class will start Jan 27, not Jan 20th as stated in the video) at Timberhill Athletic Club.
Catherine asks what stops us from getting the things we want out of life. This and similar questions are explored more thoroughly in her class.
Catherine touches on the “emotional landscape” and our personal view of stress. And she reminds us again of her 4 week class coming up at TAC.

Seeking health in 09'
Mike Waters, Dir. of health promotion for TAC. I'm also the one that tries to get "un" motivated people to think differently about being healthy.
Now. For those of you who aren't motivated these thoughts, ideas are for you. For those of you who do health, and have found a way that makes you satisfied, and happy.( Yes, you can exercise, eat vegetables, and be happy at the same time.) You may move on with your day, and perhaps find another topic to look at.
I want you to look at physical activity and food today from a different perspective. If you're not active, don't eat well, or eat too much, don't blame yourself. I want you to blame society, the modern culture of convenience we live in.
I want you to look at this from an anthropological, historical perspective. In the history of our country, there was a time when we we're more active, and didn't have the "eating opportunities" we have today. For those of you who have lived through a lot of this, you know what I'm talking about. For those of you who are younger you'll have to do some research. Ask some questions. read some history books.
To get better, we have to sometimes look at our past. To perhaps get a better understanding of you, you have to look at where you came from, who and what influenced you. This definitely holds true in your journey of life......and health.
We are in a time of huge amounts of societal stress. We have too many things, yet we're unhealthy and unhappy as ever. Remember, before you start to answer this for you, think about this from a large cultural perspective. Then bring it down to your immediate, local cultural world. See if looking at health and life satisfaction this way helps you begin to form your own personal health plan.
